Paragraph writing: Your Favourite Hero In The Novels

YOUR FAVOURITE HERO IN THE NOVELS

David Copperfield is the novel of the same name by Dickens has interested me most. It is an autobiographical novel, and David, the hero is the projection of Dickens himself.

David is a hero who has inspired me a good deal. His misery and sufferings in his earlier life are touching. He has passed through many trials and tribulations. His journey from London to Dover is a painful experience of struggles for a child.  Dickens shows here the sufferings of the child who has been ill-treated by his step-father and who has passed through pains of child labour. His experiences in Salem House, a public school was very unpleasant and painful. He had fitful glimpses of good life in the country house of Peggotty where he met little Emily and Ham. Dickens himself had painful experiences in his childhood.

The flight from London to Dover is a symbolic journey from the struggles and hardships of life to the cosy, white-curtained shelter of his eccentric aunt. Here he gets shelter and security and starts his real education for gaining economic security in life and for attaining stability in life and love. He got good schooling in Dr. Strong’s school. He learnt short-hand in order to qualify himself for a profession. His search for security in life was also accompanied by his search for security in love. He came across many girls and had some affairs with them. He was infatuated with Dora and married her. His married life was unsuccessful. He had quarrels with her for her deficiency in household activities. David had suffered the mistakes of impulsive heart. At last he found peace and security in he love of quiet Agnes after the death of Dora.

David in his life met many people, both good and bad. He had to struggle with forces of evil. The Murdstones, Uriah Heep, Steerforth and to some extent Dora darkened his life. Micawber with his congenial optimism interested him. But the Peggotty family, Agnes, Micawber, Miss Betsey, and Dick gave him happiness and love. The forces of evil overcome him for a time, but in the long last, good asserted itself and David obtained economy security and stability in love and life.

David’s misery and sufferings have touched me and his final success has inspired me. He has gained his success through struggle with adverse force. He has come into contact with many men and women in life. Some have treated him harshly, even cruelly; some have given him love and peace. His experiences at Salem House and at Murdstone Grinby factory are very pathetic— they bring tears to the eyes. He is not a passive character. He has not left himself to chances him in life. His flight from London to Dover is a unique example of heroic flight from tortures and cruelties. He has struggled and striven for gaining success in life. He has been wary of Uriah Heep and friendly to Micawber. He has understood the mistakes of passions. The examples of Dr. Strong and his wife, Steerforth and Emily have opened his eyes and he realises that in matter of love, passion must be combined with reason.
