1. “Now, Valentine,” said the warden, “You’ll go out in the morning.” [Change the mode of Narration]

Ans: The warden told Valentine that he (valentine) would go out in the morning.

2. “I never cracked a safe in my life.” Said Jimmy.[Change the mode of Narration]

Ans:  Jimmy said that he had never cracked a safe in his life.

3. “Isn’t that young lady Polly Simpson ?” asked Jimmy. [Change the mode of Narration]

Ans: Jimmy asked whether that young lady was Polly Simpson or not.

4. “Sorry we couldn’t make it sooner, Jimmy, my boy,” said Mike. [Change the mode of Narration]

Ans: Mike apologized to Jimmy as they couldn’t make it sooner.

5. “Why’d you come to Elmore for ?” said the boy to Jimmy. [Change the mode of Narration]

Ans: The boy asked Jimmy why he had come to Elmore.

6. “Brace up, and make a man of yourself” said the warden.[Change the mode of Narration]

Ans: The warden advised him to brace up and to make a man of himself.

7. “The door can’t be opened”, he groaned.[Change the mode of Narration]

Ans: He groaned that the door could not be opened.

8. Jimmy said, “I never was in Springfield in my life.” [Change the mode of Narration]

Ans: Jimmy said that he had never cracked a safe in his life.

9. Mr. Adam said, “She’ll go into convulsions from fright.” [Change the mode of Narration]

Ans: Mr. Adam said that she would go into convulsions from fright.

10. “Get away from the doctor, all of you,” he commanded. [Change the mode of Narration]

Ans: He ordered all of them to get away from the doctor.

11. “Take him back, Cronin!” said the warden, “and fix him up with outgoing clothes.” [Change the mode of Narration]

Ans: The warden ordered Cronin to take him back an to fix him up with outgoing clothes.

12. “Wouldn’t I make a nice drummer ?” said Annabel. [Change the mode of Narration]

Ans: Annabel asked if she would not make a nice drummer.

13. Jimmy said, “I’m getting awfully economical.” [Change the mode of Narration]
