1. The root is to be pulled out. [Change the Voice]

Ans: Somebody is to pull out the root.

2. Hack and chop it. [Change the Voice]

Ans: You are ordered to hack and chop it.

3. It is to be roped. [Change the Voice]

Ans: Someone is to rope it.

4. Then it is done. [Change the Voice]

Ans: Then men do it.

5. It takes much time to kill a tree. [Change the Voice]

Ans: Much time is taken to kill a tree.

6. Not a simple jab of the knife will do it. [Change the Voice]

Ans: It will not be done by a simple jab of the knife.

7. Not a simple jab of the knife will do it. [ Make it affirmative]

Ans: A simple jab of the knife will keep it undone.

8. Not so much pain will do it. [Make it affirmative]

Ans: So much pain is insufficient to do it.

9. But this alone won’t do it. [Make it affirmative]

Ans: But this alone is insufficient to do it.

10. It takes much time to kill a tree. [ Make it negative]

Ans: It does not take a little time to kill a tree.

11. If unchecked they will expand again. [ Make it negative]

Ans: If not checked they will expand again.

12. It has grown slowly. [ Use the adjective form of ‘slowly’]

Ans: It has grown in a slow manner.

13. The source, white and wet, is the most sensitive.[Change to comparative degree]

Ans: The source, white and wet, is more sensitive than any other part.

14. It has consumed the earth. It has grown slowly. [ Join into a simple sentence]

Ans: Consuming the earth, it has grown slowly.

15. Hack and chop. This alone won’t do it. [Join into a compound sentence]

Ans: Hack and chop but this alone won’t do it.

16. The source is white and wet. It is the most sensitive one. [Join into a complex sentence]

Ans: The source which is white and wet, is the most sensitive one.

17. The bleeding bark will heal and from close to the ground will rise curled green twigs. [Split into simple sentences]

Ans: The bark is bleeding. It will heal. Curled green twigs will rise from close to the ground.
