Essay Writing : ‘Hobby’

Introduction:

Everyman has a particular profession to follow. He is a creature of routine. He has to attend to his family, his office, and do various sorts of work to maintain the standard of his family. He is busy from morning to night. The monotony of work makes him dull and bored. He feels that he must have some pursuit other than his main professional work. He will do it out of his instinctive desire and he will not crave for any return for it. It will be a passion rather than a profession for him. This is called hobby. Hobby, therefore, means doing anything for the sake of innocent pleasure. It is an interesting pursuit that one follows one’s routine activity. It makes our leisure hours interesting and joyful. Stamp-collection, collection of books, photography, painting, fishing and gardening are some of the hobbies of man.

A Brief Discussion about Hobby:

Gardening is the best hobby for a man. It is a very hard job to maintain a garden. It requires the mind and the muscles for growing flowers and fruits in the garden. Site-selection for sowing seeds, watering the seed, nurturing the flowers and nursing the fruits demand physical work as well as mental devotion. We have to till the land and water it regularly. When the soil is ready, seeds are to be sown. Gradually, the seeds grow up and bring froth flowers and fruits. We have a creative pleasure in seeing the trees bearing full-grown fruits. We feel the joy of creation.

Eassy writing Hobby

Hobbies thus provide creative pleasure. A man gets identified with his hobby. He finds new Interest and pleasure in the pursuit of his hobby. Here he has no greed, no malic for anyone, on bitterness. He goes on in his work out of his joy and interest. It is an all-absorbing passion

Einstein who was experimenting all the day in his laboratory finds to play on the violin. A clerk or an officer who has to do his file work day in and day out engages himself in stamp collection or goes out fishing on Sunday. He gets away from the boredom of his regular work and escapes for a day to a pursuit of his heart’s desire.

The pleasure of hobby is very great. After a day’s labour, a man returns home, he gets tired and feels out of sorts. But he is refreshed if he has a regular hobby to follow. It will not only give him fresh energy but save him from any evil forces. Hobby makes a man happy.

Conclusion:

Hobbies give us a holiday from normal work and open for us an opportunity to do something which we like and which gives us creative joy. Monotony of work dulls a man’s spirit and damps his energy.  A man can refresh his mind with his hobby or hobbies. Hobby gives a man fresh energy to do his work and provides him with the joy of creation.
